Description
Influenza is a respiratory virus that has been causing flu outbreaks for many years. Although it circulates annually, from time to time it can cause more severe outbreaks called pandemics. An event that highly contributes to the pandemic is the rearrangement or abrupt antigenic variation in which the virus acquires new genes that do not find previous immunity in the population and allows the virus to spread more easily. Check the time line of the pandemics and some important events to understand the flu.Details
