Objectives

    - Assess the importance of the Leaders in International Health Program "Edmundo Granda Ugalde" (LIHP), its conceptual model and applications, creating a framework for international health and the health context in the region of the Americas; - Identify national health priorities, according to Strategy UN Cooperation and PAHO / WHO Country (CCA-UNDAF-CCS), the main challenges and the stakeholders; - Reflect and dialogue with the national authorities of PAHO / WHO and the LIHP coordination on the issue of national project in international health, following the relevant guidelines for the selection; - Start the study of conceptual foundations and agendas related to bilateral and multilateral agreements, the social determinants of health, primary care Renewed Health and the Millennium Development Goals; - Manage virtual technologies, particularly tools Virtual Campus of Public Health and Health Situation Rooms International, to participate effectively in the LIHP virtual activities; - Apply research methodologies in the development of their project proposal to ensure that this country follow the rules and contribute to the quality of it.

    Description

    This course module includes a discussion about each country's international health situation according to the conceptual model, the existing problems and actors cooperation strategies in real learning situations. Its thematic units:
    Structure and objectives of the LIHP. LIHP Conceptual model and its potential as a tool for analyzing issues or problems related to international health, sociopolitical and economic contexts national, subregional and the region of the Americas, and its impact on health and development; Cooperation Strategy in the country (CCA-UNDAF and CCS), challenges and national and international actors involved, the PAHO / WHO: structure, mission, values​​, key mandates, technical cooperation, and the role of Representations country main lines of cooperation PAHO / wHO and other bilateral, multilateral, nongovernmental organizations and the private sector who exercise at country level; social determinants of health, primary care Renewed health, Millennium Development Goals and methodology research.
