    -To understand and analyze the main social and technical factors that lead to the acknowledgement and consolidation of medicines as an essential component for health and its inclusion in the national and international health, trade and development agendas. -To understand and make use of the international regulatory and political frameworks which define access to medicines as a human right. -To understand the characteristics of the international pharmaceutical trade and the negotiation processes involved, as well as discuss their implications for the access to medicines. -To understand and discuss the implications of the International agreements and negotiations around intellectual property rights on the access to medicines.

    - Assess the importance of the Leaders in International Health Program "Edmundo Granda Ugalde" (LIHP), its conceptual model and applications, creating a framework for international health and the health context in the region of the Americas; - Identify national health priorities, according to Strategy UN Cooperation and PAHO / WHO Country (CCA-UNDAF-CCS), the main challenges and the stakeholders; - Reflect and dialogue with the national authorities of PAHO / WHO and the LIHP coordination on the issue of national project in international health, following the relevant guidelines for the selection; - Start the study of conceptual foundations and agendas related to bilateral and multilateral agreements, the social determinants of health, primary care Renewed Health and the Millennium Development Goals; - Manage virtual technologies, particularly tools Virtual Campus of Public Health and Health Situation Rooms International, to participate effectively in the LIHP virtual activities; - Apply research methodologies in the development of their project proposal to ensure that this country follow the rules and contribute to the quality of it.

    Upon finishing the course, participants should be able to: - Design risk communication strategies using a risk map to analyze the local context and systematically incorporating lessons learned. - Understand the importance of risk perceptions and other relevant risk communication concepts and incorporate these in the design of effective strategies and in adjustments according to the local context. - Identify monitoring and evaluation activities appropriate for the interventions and communication processes in the risk communication strategy. - Understand the important steps for communicating effectively with the internal and external target audiences, including partners, stakeholders, the media, online social networks, health personnel and the public.
