The prevention and control of Dengue Fever in urban areas
Année de publication: 2011
Dengue is one of the main public health issues in the world. The World Health Organization (WHO)
estimates that between 50 and 100 million people are infected annually in over 100 countries on all
continents except Europe. Around 550,000 of those affected require hospitalization, and 20,000 die
from the disease. The control of this typically urban disease is extremely complex, as it involves sectors
outside health, such as city infrastructure, and the transportation of people and cargo, among others.
