Nurse migration in Guyana
Publication year: 2011
The 21st century has presented several challenges to those responsible for the training, development, and management of human resources for health. There is need to strengthen the quality of training, ensure the acquisition of job skills that facilitate a comprehensive response to the needs of users of health services, and improve the equitable distribution of these critical resources. Migration has a specific influence in the context of subregional integration, particularly linked with increased mobility of professionals and efforts to standardize educational provisions, degrees, and professional certifications. Random surveys have indicated an important flow of migration in many countries of the Region, and Guyana is no exception. (AU)
