INTRODUÇÃO:
O presente estudo investigou o mercado de trabalho dos enfermeiros, tendo em vista as transformações que vêm ocorrendo no trabalho em geral na sociedade contemporânea e em particular no trabalho em saúde. OBJETIVO:
O objetivo da pesquisa foi, especialmente, quantificar e qualificar as formas de inserção no mercado de trabalho dos enfermeiros, buscando conhecer sua dinâmica e estabelecer a configuração de emprego do enfermeiro no Brasil. Para isso utilizou uma abordagem qualitativa apoiada em métodos quantitativos. MATERIAL E MÉTODO:
O estudo buscou informações de fontes secundárias para apoiar a configuração do cenário nacional, tanto da demanda de postos de trabalho, quanto da condição da oferta (formação). Entretanto, seu foco estará direcionado para o inquérito, em amostra não aleatória, que investigou a situação atual dos enfermeiros, através de variáveis selecionadas (flexibilidade das relações de trabalho, emprego, autonomia, qualificação profissional). RESULTADOS:
Os resultados pretendem dar indicativos da tendência nacional do mercado de trabalho dos enfermeiros, tanto pelo lado da oferta quanto da demanda. CONCLUSÃO:
Acredita-se que o produto desta investigação possa vir a subsidiar a tomada de decisões com vistas à implementação e execução de políticas no campo da saúde, do trabalho e da educação, com ênfase na enfermagem.

This research has investigated nursing labour marke t, in order to disclose its dynamics and the nursing working profile in Brazil. It has employed a qualitative approach, sustained by quantitative methods. OBJECTIVE:
The objective of the research was to quantify and qualify the forms of insertion in the labor market of nurses, seeking to know its dynamics and to establish the nursing configuration of the nurses in Brazil. For this, he used a qualitative approach based on quantitative methods. MATERIAL AND METHODS:
The study has searched for secondary data that could support the outline of the national scene, both related to the demand of working positions as well as to the supply conditions (education). Nevertheless, its focus is directed to the inquiry, applied to non-random sample, that investigated the current nursing status considering selected variables (flexibility of working relations, employment, autonomy, professional qualification). RESULTS:
The results intend to indicate the national tendency of the nursing labour market covering both supply and demand. We believe that the results of this investigation can subside decision-making directed to the implementation of politics in the health, working and education areas, emphasizing the nursing field.
